Notes:   Joe Thornton is one of the oldest players in the NHL at 35 years of age. His goal scoring declined last season, yet his playmaking skills remain elite. Thornton took much of the heat after the Sharks epic collapse to the LA Kings in the playoffs after they held a 3 – 0 series lead. He considered waiving his no-movement clause if fans did not want him in San Jose. In the offseason, he was stripped of his captaincy. The San Jose Sharks are in a rebuilding phase and there are six teams interested in Thornton, including the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings.
