Lance Bouma Played in Playoffs with 8 Screws in his Finger
The Calgary Flames season is over and the Flames opened up with the media about the nature of their injuries. Micheal Ferland talked about his torn oblique and Joe Colbourne mentioned his wrist injury. Lance Bouma’s story was the most gruesome.
Bouma mentioned that he blocked a shot with his finger against Arizona on April 7th. His finger shattered and the surgical procedure required to repair Bouma’s index finger consisted of 8 screws and a plate.
Despite his injury, Bouma played in two playoff games against the Anaheim Ducks. When asked what it was like to play through his injury, Bouma said:
I’ll try to avoid glove saves.
