Pittsburgh Penguins Eager to Trade for a 1st Round Draft Pick
The Pittsburgh Penguins are eager to acquire a first round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. General manager Jim Rutherford traded his 1st round pick, which turned out to be 16th overall, to the Edmonton Oilers. Rutherford said recently he is targeting teams with multiple first round picks:
I’ll certainly pursue it. I don’t know if we’ll be able to pick up one or not (but) there are some teams that have acquired an abundance of first-round picks, and they may not need them all. I’ve actually talked to a couple of those teams already.
The Penguins only have one pick in the first four rounds because of trades and they are eager to acquire a first round pick. The Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres, Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, and Winnipeg Jets have multiple first round picks to trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
