Ducks Matt Beleskey Demands $5 Million per Season
The Anaheim Ducks will not re-sign UFA winger Matt Beleskey. General manager Bob Murray gave a final offer and it was rejected. Murray said:
We made an offer and they rejected it immediately. So I don’t think there’s anything else happening there. I said that when we kept him at the trade deadline - that I doubted it was going to work - and they obviously feel they’re going to do a lot better. I’m very comfortable with the offer we made, we made a really good offer, and it’s just a part of hockey now.
The 27 year old scored 22 goals and 10 assists in 65 games during last season. He had a good playoffs and wants to cash in on July 1 free agency. Beleskey is demanding $5 million per season. The Ducks refuse to go that high, and he will test the open market.
