Monster Trade Rumor Out of Toronto
The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to trade away their veterans and rebuild for the future. The Maple Leafs have the fourth overall pick for the 2015 NHL Draft on June 26th, and would like to add more first round picks. Damien Cox said:
In particular, there's a widespread belief, as first reported a week ago by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, that the Leafs are making known their intent to deal Kessel before the draft, which could then trigger other moves.
Kessel is a prolific goal scorer, averaging thirty goals per season. The 27 year old right winger is signed to an average annual value of $8 million through 2019-20. The Maple Leafs also plan to trade Dion Phaneuf, Joffrey Lupul, Tyler Bozak, and James Reimer.
The Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers are interested in a trade for Phil Kessel.
