Toronto Maple Leafs Announce A Flurry of Signings
On Tuesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs signed Tim Erixon and Petter Granberg to one year deals. Additionally, the Leafs signed college prospect, and hobey baker finalist, Zach Hyman, to a two year entry level contract.
Erixon received a 1 year, 1 way contract worth $600K. The Leafs have played Erixon as a depth defencemen, since he was claimed off waivers from the Blackhawks. He has played 15 games for the Leafs getting one point along the way.
Additionally, the Leafs signed defencemen Petter Granberg. He has played a total of 8 NHL games in the last two seasons. Granberg has zero points and is +1.
Finally, the Leafs announced the two year entry level signing of College prospect Zach Hyman. Hyman was just recently traded from the Florida Panthers for the Maple Leafs Greg McKegg. Hyman was traded because he informed the Panthers he would not sign with them, and would become a free agent on August 15th. The right winger scored 52 points in 37 games this season playing for the University of Michigan.
Now, Maple Leafs fans can only wait to see if star players Phil Kessel and Dion Phaneuf will be traded prior or during the NHL Draft in Florida.
