Capitals Owner Did Not Fulfill His Commitments to Alex Ovechkin
Alongside the development camp for the Washington Capitals, Capitals owner, Ted Leonsis, spoke about a vote of confidence in his team captain, Alexander Ovechkin:
His consistency is incredible, historical. He plays with intensity all the time.
We are in this together and he knows we are sincere to win the Stanley Cup. He feels and sees it coming very soon.
The 2014-15 season marked a 10 year association between Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals, but despite phenomenal offensive numbers from the Russian, the team has not won a Stanley Cup. Leonsis says he did not "fulfill his commitments" to his star player.
Fans certainly feel that the tide turned last season, with the arrival of new CEO Brain MacLellan and head coach Barry Trotz. Trotz has contributed to the development of the overall game of Ovi. The Capitals reached the second round of the Eastern Conference last spring.
Ovechkin is under contract with the Capitals until 2021. Ovi signed 13 year contract worth a total of $124 million.
