Rumor: Christian Ehrhoff to Columbus Blue Jackets
The Columbus Blue Jackets are in contract talks with defenseman Christian Ehrhoff. Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Post-Dispatch reports:
Sources have told The Dispatch the Blue Jackets and free agent defenseman Christian Ehrhoff have had discussions, and that a deal could come together if Ehrhoff sits on the market long enough for his price to come down.
Put another way: if Ehrhoff stays jobless long enough to get nervous, he could significantly lower his asking price to make sure he has a chair when the music stops.
Ehrhoff was plagued with injuries last season, scoring 3 goals and 11 assists in 49 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is coming off a one year, $4 million contract. The Blue Jackets want to sign him to a one year contract worth $3 million.
