Video: Auston Matthews Centennial Classic OT Winner

Rookie Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs started 2017 the same way he started his NHL career. Matthews thrilled the fans watching the Centennial Classic on Sunday, scoring an overtime winner to give the home team a thrilling 5-4 win over the Detroit Red Wings.



This goal was Matthews' second of the game and 20th of the season. There were seven goals scored in the third period, including Anthony Mantha’s goal to push the game to OT with under two seconds remaining. With the two goal game, Matthews passed Patrik Laine for top spot among rookies in goals (20) and points (32).
