NHL Trade Rumors: 5 teams inquiring about Kevin Shattenkirk
The St. Louis Blues are listening to offers for Kevin Shattenkirk as the March 1, 2017 NHL trade deadline approaches. Shattenkirk becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer and it's unlikely the Blues have the cap space to sign him to the $7 M AAV, 7 year term contract he seeks.
According to NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun, there is a good chance he is traded.
Yeah, there is. And that’s a change in itself. I think when this season started, all things being equal, the St. Louis Blues viewed their team as a team that could contend for the Stanley Cup. And why not, after going to the Western Conference Final last year. Listen, they’re still potentially playoff-bound, but I think the Blues don’t view themselves at quite the same level that they were a year ago. So because of that – and remember, this is a team that let David Backes and Troy Brouwer walk away for nothing last year in July – they are going to listen on Kevin Shattenkirk. Doesn’t mean they necessarily will trade him – depends on the offer – but I do think they will listen and potentially get something for him.
The Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, and Anaheim Ducks are inquiring about 27 year old Kevin Shattenkirk.
