Video: Gustav Nyquist vicious high stick on Jared Spurgeon
Detroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist deliberately hit Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon in his face with a stick during their Sunday game.
The play came in the first period after Spurgeon knocks down Nyquist with a cross-check along the boards. Nyquist loses his cool and uses his blade to spear Spurgeon in the face.
Nyquist received a two minute minor for high-sticking. Spurgeon left briefly and then returned to the game. The NHL’s Department of Player Safety will likely review the play.
Should Nyquist be suspended?
