Zach Werenski out for playoffs after facial fracture
According to coach John Tortorella, Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski won’t be returning to the lineup this season due to a facial fracture he suffered during last night’s game with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Werenski took a hard slap shot from Penguins forward Phil Kessel to his right cheekbone. He put on a full face shield and tried to play during the pain, but eventually he was not able to play anymore when overtime began
He was immediately taken to the hospital after the overtime loss. He uploaded this selfie to his Twitter page depicting the progression of bruising to where his right eye had started to close.
Should Zach Werenski have been allowed to continue playing after sustaining his serious injury?
