NHL Penalizes 10 Teams for Salary Cap Overages
CapFriendly reports the NHL penalized 10 teams for salary cap overages. The Toronto Maple Leafs received the largest penalty of $5.37M for the 2017-18 season. The Chicago Blackhawks were penalized $3.56M, the Arizona Coyotes $2.50M, and the Philadelphia Flyers $1.06M.
Six teams got a penalty under $1M including the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Washington Capitals.
The Maple Leafs and Blackhawks will find it more challenging to stay under the salary cap for the 2017-18 season because of their large penalties.
