NHL Trade Rumors: Jonas Brodin to Boston Bruins
The Minnesota Wild are looking to trade Jonas Brodin before the June 21 NHL expansion draft. The Wild have a deep defensive core and Brodin will likely be left unprotected at the draft, where he'd be selected by the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
The Wild are a deep team and must protect seven forwards, leaving only three spots to protect on defense. Ryan Suter and Jared Spurgeon will be protected, leaving one of Jonas Brodin or Mathew Dumba available to be drafted by Las Vegas.
Brodin is a second pairing defenseman, who scored 3 goals and 25 points last season. The 23-year-old is signed for four more seasons to a cap hit of $4.17 million.
Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara is 40-years-old and close to retirement. The Bruins desperately need help on defense, and may offer a first-round pick in return for Jonas Brodin.
