NHL Rumors: Jaromir Jagr to Calgary Flames
Jaromir Jagr is rumored to be headed to the Calgary Flames. The 45-year-old Jagr said no teams were calling him to offer him a contract at the start of Free Agency. The Flames have decided to call him.
Jagr has accomplished much in his NHL career. Originally drafted fifth overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1990, he’s played for eight different NHL teams. He is a two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1990-91 and 91-92. He is a five-time Art Ross Trophy winner, a three-time Ted Lindsay Award winner, a Masterton Trophy winner, a Hart Trophy winner, and he made the All-Star team eight times. Jagr passed Mark Messier in total points and is second behind only Wayne Gretzky.
Jagr scored 16 goals and 46 points in 82 games last season with the Florida Panthers, who do not want him back. He is coming off a $5.52 million cap hit contract, and it's likely he'll have to take a pay-cut if he wants to continue playing in the NHL until he is 50.
Jagr could have good chemistry on the right-wing alongside Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau.
