NHL Trade Rumors: Johnny Gaudreau to Philadelphia Flyers
The Calgary Flames star forward Johnny Gaudreau said he'd like to play for the Philadelphia Flyers someday. Philadelphia is close to his hometown, Carneys Point N.J., and Gaudreau was a Flyers fan growing up.
Here is what he said during a radio station show in Philadelphia.
It would be sweet to play [in Philadelphia] some day. You never know in sports, but it’s a lot of support back here in South Jersey and the Philly area. I’ve got a ton of family here, all my friends. All my friends come back here, all my good friends, and kids that I’ve played with my whole life are from South Jersey.
The 23-year-old left-winger scored 18 goals and 61 points in 72 games last season. He is signed until 2021-22 to a $6.75M cap hit contract. Gaudreau is a popular player in Calgary. Do Flames fans have anything to worry about?
He has five seasons left on his contract, and it's unlikely he gets traded anytime soon. In the final season of his contract though, it becomes more likely he is dealt. In the final season, Gaudreau's contract has a five-team trade list, and the Flyers happen to be on his trade list!
