New York Islanders committed to new arena in Belmont park.
Co-owner Jon Ledecky of the New York Islanders confirmed the team is committed to building a new arena in Belmont park.
New York state has already approved the proposal to build an arena near the Belmont park horse racetrack. At a media gathering in Manhatten Ledecky said, "Our singular focus is to play at Belmont park." Ledecky, and Scott Malkin ,who took over ownership of the New York Islanders in July 2016, said the hockey team would continue to play at Barclays Center for at least the next two seasons. The Islanders moved to Brooklyn in 2015 after 43 years at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island.
