Steven Stamkos scores 1st goal since November 2016
Steven Stamkos has scored his first goal since coming back from a season ending injury on November 16th, 2016 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Stamkos tore the lateral meniscus in his right knee on November 16th during a 4-3 win game against the Detroit Red Wings in 2016. Since then, Stamkos hasn't scored a single goal and missed the rest of the 2016 season.
For those who don't know what a lateral meniscus is, is a fibrocartilaginoua band that spans the lateral side of the interior of the knee joint. It is one of two menisci of the knee, the other being the medical meniscus. It is nearly circular and covers a larger portion of the articular surface than the medial. It can occasionally be injured or torn by twisting the knee or applying direct force, as seen in contact sports such as hockey.
