MONSTER TRADE RUMOR: Canucks defenseman to Florida
According to TSN's Jason Brough, the Florida Panthers are willing to re-acquire their former 1st round pick Erik Gudbranson from the Vancouver Canucks to whom they traded him after the 2015-16 NHL season.
Although the Panthers seem very interested in acquiring Gudbranson's services, other teams are also interested in acquiring the 6'5 defenseman as Jeff Paterson from TSN reported on Twitter that there were 15 different teams with scouts at the Canucks-Flyers game tonight.
However, Gudbranson currently sits at a one-year, $3.5 million contract and will become an unrestricted free-agent by the end of the season. It's unclear on what the Vancouver Canucks are planning on doing. If they're planning some kind of sign and trade deal or if they'll shop him around as a rental. Assuming he doesn't sign a contract extension with the Canadian team, given that the Panters believed to be amongst the teams interested in Gudbranson's services, a sign and trade deal is the most likely scenario in his case.
