Rumor: Canadiens defenseman on the trade block
It looks like the Canadiens are trying to make another move, according to Eric Engels at least.
Engels has received sources reporting that the Canadiens are shopping around defenseman Brandon Davidson, a 26-year old currently in his 5th year in the NHL.
Since being acquired by Montreal for David Desharnais late last season, he has not exactly benefited the team all too well. He has been a healthy scratch fairly often, and seems to have lost even the 7th defenseman spot with the new additions of Jakub Jerabek and David Schlemko.
Nevertheless, Davidson could be a decent player to fill a bottom-pairing on most teams, and his 1.425 million dollar cap-hit until the end of the season is easy to manage.
A few teams that could benefit from his services include: Colorado, Toronto (though a trade between these rivals is very unlikely), and Arizona.
