Rumor: Evander Kane to the Boston Bruins
As we start the 2nd half of the season, the Buffalo Sabres are still nowhere near playoff contention, and are likely to have a fire sale before the trade deadline.
The biggest name on this list would be Evander Kane. The 26-year old is on an expiring contract, and is unlikely to re-sign with the Sabres in July. With over 500 games of experience, and over 300 points in that time, Kane could fetch quite a bit in return if the team can deal with his off-ice antics.
One team that may want a rental like Kane would be the Boston Bruins. The Bruins are doing quite well recently, but could use another winger in their top-6. While the Bruins may not want to give up any of their top prospects like Charlie McAvoy or Jake DeBrusk, they do still have 6 of their 7 draft picks this year (do not have a 6th rounder), so perhaps a trade that would send a pick or 2 to Buffalo for Evander Kane would be possible.
Kane was acquired by Buffalo in 2015 in a blockbuster 7 player trade that sen Tyler Myers over to Winnepeg. Since being acquired by the Sabres, Kane has played in 176 games over 3 seasons, collecting 113 points (64G, 49A) in that time.
