Report: Ilya Kovalchuk to sign with eastern conference team

There has been a lot of debate on whether or not Russian winger Ilya Kovalchuk would return to the NHL. Reports have come out that he is not only returning, but already has a deal in place.
According to KHL reporter Igor Eronko, Kovalchuk is set to sign a 2-3 year contract with the New York Rangers.

With the Rangers in a rebuild, it is likely that Kovalchuk will be a mentor for the younger players on the roster.
