NHL coach rips own team after loss
The Eastern Conference Finals started last night between the Tampa-Bay Lightning and the Washington Capitals and things didn't go as planned for the Bolts. Losing the game 4-2 after letting two goals in the opening periods and two in the second.
They were playing the Eastern Conference Finals, and we were playing in Game 38, Jon Cooper, head coach for the Lightning stated during the post-game interview.
The Washington Capitals completely dominated during the opening period out-shooting their opponents 9-2 and then they unleashed their wrath in the second out-shooting the Bolts 25-10. The Lightning fell behind 2-0 in the opening tier of the game after a goal by Nikita Kucherov was disallowed because of a penalty of 'Too many men on the ice'. In the second, they were trailing 4-0, but when the third, the Bolts showed some signs that they weren't out as they scored two goals. That effort came little too late for the Florida based team.
You could tell it right away, you look up at the clock, we had a lot of time zone and not a single shot on goal, Cooper said, according to Bryan Burns of the Lightning's official site. That summed up pretty much how our night was about to go.
As we look back upon Game 38 for the Bolts, they shutout the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-0.
