Breaking: Devante Smith-Pelly has chosen to protest potential White House visit
Professional athletes from the NFL and NBA are refusing to visit the White House for political reasons. The NHL has for the most part escaped this epidemic.
The reigning Stanley Cup Champions, Pittsburgh Penguins, visited the White House on two separate occasions when both Barack Obama and Donald Trump were President. Hockey fans are pleased the Penguins remained nonpartisan.
The Washington Capitals are currently up 3 - 1 in the Stanley Cup finals series against the Vegas Golden Knights. The Capitals still need one more to win the Championship; however, forward Devante Smith-Pelly is not holding back his comments about a potential White House visit with President Trump.
The things that he spews are straight-up racist and sexist. Some of the things he’s said are pretty gross ... It hasn’t come up here, but I think I already have my mind made up.
Smith-Pelly's comments are not going to sit well with NHL fans.
