BREAKING: Oilers Acquire Ryan Spooner From Rangers
The Oilers and Rangers have made a deal.
The Edmonton Oilers acquire Ryan Spooner from the New York Rangers in exchange for Ryan Strome.
Strome was originally acquired from the Islanders in exchange for Jordan Eberle, and carries a cap hit of 3.1 million dollars for this season and next. The 25-year old, former 4th overall pick has played in 358 games with the Islanders and Oilers. He has scored 59 goals and 162 points in that time.
Spooner was acquired in a package that saw Rick Nash go over to the Boston Bruins last season. His cap hit is 4 million dollars for the next 2 years, though the Rangers retained 900k worth of his cap hit, which brings it down to equal with Strome's. The 26-year old has collected 46 goals and 160 points in 289 NHL games with Boston and New York.
