Report: Conflicting reports about hiring of Joel Quenneville
Philadelphia insider Dave Issaac has claimed that the Philadelphia Flyers have hired former Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville and have fired current head coach Dave Hakstol and that the organization will announce the hiring either Sunday night or Monday morning. But NHL insider Darren Dreger says not so fast.
We will have to wait to see once the Philadelphia organization makes an official announcement of the hiring of Joel Quenneville.
Sources indicate that Joel Quenneville, a three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Chicago Blackhawks, been offered the position and accepted it. It is unknown if he will make his debut Tuesday night when the Flyers play against the Detroit Red Wings at home or after the holiday break. If he waits, look for Lehigh Valley Phantoms coach Scott Gordon to be an interim head coach until Quenneville joins the club, Issaac stated in his report. But TSN's Darren Dreger stated that a decision pertaining to Hakstol hasn't been made and according to FOX Sports Midwest Andy Strickland, Quenneville hasn't accepted a job.
