Calder Watch: Jordan Binnington is playing himself into ROY consideration
Coming off his Rookie of the Month award, St Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington is ready to finish the season strong and carry the positive momentum into the playoffs.
When St Louis called up Binnington the Blues were struggling, with most of the blame pointed towards the crease as starter Jake Allen was consistently inconsistent. The team decided change was needed and recalled the goaltender in early January and have caught fire ever since leapfrogging their way up the western conference standings. Binnington's steady play is the biggest reason the Blues have been collecting points in 2019 and the former 3rd round pick has stamped his name in the finalist conversation for the Calder.
Elias Petterson of the Canucks may have something to say about Binnington's chances, however, if the Blues tender can stay hot down the stretch, he has an outside shot at winning. Hard to argue with these numbers, as since Binnington was recalled he ranks accordingly (Min 20 GP):

- 1st in wins (16)
- 2nd in GAA (1.70)
- T1 with 5 shutouts
Binnington's 16-3-1 record is impressive. It's going to be entertaining down the stretch to see how the last 16 games play out. @Binnasty may have to change his Twitter profile in June to include some hardware.
