Report: Maple Leafs close to signing Ilya Mikheyev
According to Sport-Express' Igor Eronko, the Toronto Maple Leafs are very close to signing 24-year old winger Ilya Mikheyev and a deal may come as soon as later on today.
Igor Eronko has stated that the Toronto Maple Leafs are close to signing 24-year old Ilya Mikheyev who's contact expires at the end of this month. An effective penalty killer who has a lot of speed and is versatile when needed, Mikheyev scored 23 goals and 22 assists in 62 games this season with the Avangard Omsk of the KHL. He also had quite the productive post-season, notching 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) in 13 games.
The Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks are also shown interest in signing the 24-year old. If he is signed, he will sign a one-year, entry level contract and will join the team next season as he wasn't put on a reserve list before the trade deadline.
