Rumor: Connor McDavid demands trade out of Edmonton

According to a senior hockey columnist with The Athletic, Oilers superstar, Connor McDavid wants out of Edmonton. The NHL's biggest and brightest star has lost all hope with the franchise after another embarrassing season. With the frustration of this roller coaster season almost behind him and limited hope on the horizon, McDavid would love a change of scenery.

August 9th, 1988, Wayne Gretzky was traded. Anything can happen. Here are a few deals worth considering as a McDavid trade could shock the hockey world:

  1. Oilers trade Connor McDavid, Sam Gagner and Kyle Brodziak to the Carolina Hurricanes for Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravinen, Warren Foegele, Brett Pesce, Julien Gauthier, Jake Bean and two first round picks. With a wildcard owner in Carolina, anything is possible after the next Storm Surge.
  2. Oilers trade Connor McDavid, Sam Gagner and Kris Russell to the Florida Panthers for Aleksander Barkov, Aaron Ekblad, Owen Tippett, Serron Noel, and a first-round pick. Faces of the franchise would be completely different, Edmonton would get return for the now and future.
  3. Oilers trade Connor McDavid, Matthew Benning and Zack Kassian to the Toronto Maple Leafs for William Nylander, Nazem Kadri, Connor Brown, Andreas Johnsson, Jeremy Bracco, Rasmus Sandin, Ian Scott and a first-rounder in 2020 and 2021. Anyone not named Marner, Matthews or Tavares is in play for the Leafs so this could end up being a mega-deal for the ages. There has been talk the Leafs are considering sending Patrick Marleau back to San Jose this upcoming offseason. If that does happen, expect the Leafs to come calling once they have a little different cap set up.
Imagine trading this guy?
