Steve Yzerman to be introduced as the new GM of the Detroit Red Wings
Stevie Y is heading back to Motown as the Red Wings have called a press conference today for 3pm to announce the move. Ken Holland will remain with the team and will stay on as the Sr Vice President.
This move was speculated for over a year now as Yzerman's role in Tampa was reduced so he could spend more time with his family in the Detroit area. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009, Yzerman spent his entire 22-year playing career with the Red Wings and served as captain of the franchise from 1986-2006. He won three Stanley Cups with the team and captured the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2000.
