Report: Maple Leafs and Kings close to a deal

As we reported weeks ago, the Maple Leafs are working the phones to try and send Patrick Marleau back to the west coast to free up some cap space and keep the player happy for what is likely his final season in the NHL.

Pierre LeBrun reports that the Maple Leafs and Kings are discussing a deal to send Marleau to LA. No word yet on what could be going back Toronto's way, but it's believed to be cheap roster players/prospects to ensure they keep the cap space needed to re-sign Mitch Marner. Here's more from Lebrun:
