Report: San Jose offers defenceman Erik Karlsson massive contract extension
According to The Athletic's Kevin Kurz, the San Jose Sharks have offered defenceman Erik Karlsson a massive contract extension.
According to Kurz, the contract is in the ballpark of Drew Doughty's current contract. The contract is reportedly going to be 8-years, $88 million for Karlsson.
His first season with the Sharks was a tough one as Karlsson played only 53 games this past season due to a groin injury to which he got surgery for. Although he didn't play a full season, Karlsson scored 45 points and averaged a total of 24 minutes per game.
The Sharks have $24 million in available cap space, but his signing will alter the Sharks plans on re-signing captain Joe Pavelski.
