Rumor: Mitch Marner to sign with the New York Islanders
According to sources, the New York Islanders are preparing a monster offer for Toronto Maple Leaf, RFA, Mitch Marner.
TSN's Darren Dreger has reported the Islanders are one of the teams who reached out to Marner's camp today in hopes of luring the young star to Long Island. The deal is believe to be in the neighbourhood of 5 years and $13 million dollars AAV.
Marner has been a stud for the Maple Leafs, totalling 94 points in 82 games last season, his first with John Tavares in the middle. It would be awfully ironic for Marner to sign in Long Island after he was one of the reasons why Tavares went to Toronto.
While Darren Dreger continues to report Marner and his camp have had constant contact, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston admitted he will 'eat his shoe' if Marner signs a $13 mill + offer sheet.
Something's gotta give....
