Maple Leafs trade Garret Sparks to Vegas for David Clarkson
According to Elliotte Friedman the Toronto Maple Leafs are set to acquire David Clarkson from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for back-up goalie, Garret Sparks.
The deal is also going to involve a 4th round pick going from Vegas to the Maple Leafs as Toronto gets creative to find room under the salary cap for Mitch Marner.
Clarkson an ex-Leaf spent 2 seasons in Toronto, managing 26 points in 128 games. He signed a massive 7-year contract worth $36.75 million and never has lived up to expectations. Now with an injured back, expect the Leafs to move him to LTIR as soon as camp opens.
Sparks on the other hand has a chance to challenge Malcolm Subban for minutes behind MAF in Vegas. The American tender posted a 3.15 GAA last year in 20 games.
