Rumor: UFA Jake Gardiner getting close to agreeing on deal
As of today, most of the big name free agents are off the market and have made their way to their new teams. For UFA, puck-moving defenceman, Jake Gardiner it's been a whirlwind couple of weeks.
According to sources Gardiner has received offers from multiple clubs, including, the Habs, Canucks, Stars, and Wild. The deals have ranged from a one-year contract, to a three-year contract, however, Gardiner being 29, would obviously prefer a longer term. The Minnesota native finished with 30 points in 62 games last season, and has surpassed 50 points once in his career.
This brings us to his injured back, and team's have been asking for his medical records during the negotiation. The player can obey or deny the request, and it appears Gardiner has now been more open with teams.
The New Jersey Devils are not done, and the LA Kings want to add to their back-end, could Gardiner be the piece for either of those clubs? It appears so, as sources indicate he's talked to both of those clubs recently and may have to accept a shorter termed deal to sign on the dotted line.
Would Jake Gardiner be an upgrade for your team?
