Report: Avalanche RFA Mikko Rantanen heading to Norway
Colorado Avalanche winger Mikko Rantanen is still without a contract as training camp approaches, and it appears he's taking matters into his own hands. The forward has decided to head to Norway to play (for now), according to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston.
Rantanen, who lead the league in scoring for several months last season, finished the year with a career high 31 goals and 84 points, has been rumored to be asking north of $9 million dollars. Avalanche GM, Joe Sakic has a ton of cap space to work with, so settling on a new deal shouldn't be too far away.

Do you think Sakic is scared with Rantanen's euro-trip? It would be hard to walk away from a player of this caliber:Hey @Avalanche! This guy looks quite happy in Hamar, and we promise to take good care of him! Just take your time, we've got jersey number 96 available... #GoAvsGo #2hockey #storhamargutta pic.twitter.com/1PuLma75iq— Storhamar Hockey (@StorhamarHockey) August 26, 2019
