BREAKING: Colin White Signs Six-Year Contract with Ottawa
Some big news out of Ottawa this afternoon, as the Senators have signed their key RFA of this off-season.
Colin White has signed a 6-year, 28.5 million dollar extension with the Ottawa Senators. This deal carries a cap hit of 4.75 million dollars per season.
This contract makes the 22-year old tied for 2nd highest cap hit on the team (4th if you count Marian Gaborik and Ryan Callahan's LTIR contracts).
The former 1st round pick scored 14 goals and 41 points last season, and will likely be relied on much more after several departures of key forwards like Matt Duchene and Mark Stone.
The deal is carried out entirely in base salary, and breaks down as such
Year 1 and 2: 4 million
Year 3, 4 and 5: 4.75 million
Year 6: 6.25 million
