Calgary Flames sign RFA Matthew Tkachuk to a bridge deal
Matthew Tkachuk can pack his bags from playing with the OHL's London Knights and make his way back to Calgary, as the team has signed the pesty winger to a bridge 3-year deal, at roughly $7 million per year.
The Scottsdale, Arizona native finished last season with 77 points and 80 games and the team expects 'Chuky' to build off his first 3 seasons and be primed for a monster year for the Flames. Expect to see Tkachuk be a staple on the team's second line, perhaps with Elias Lindholm as his pivot.
The Flames are trying to figure out ways to balance their scoring and having Tkachuk in the lineup allows them to do so.
This appears to be another player who was striving for a long term deal, but when they realized the numbers weren't going to add up from the team's offer, they settled on a bridge deal just so they can start playing hockey.
Who's next off the board?
