Report: Jack Johnson is getting traded out of Pittsburgh; 3 Possible Destinations
Jack Johnson needs to write a book when his playing career is over. The latest chapter of the American defenceman's story is the Penguins are moving on from his services before October 3rd.
According to Josh Yohe of the Athletic, Jack Johnson was told over the weekend there are multiple offers on the table for the defenceman and GM, Jim Rutherford is interested in moving on from Johnson's $3.25 million dollar cap hit. Johnson is signed for 4 more seasons, it appears regardless of his roots with Sidney Crosby, Penguins management has made it clear they are moving on.
Jim Rutherford is known for being up front and transparent with his players. A lot easier to operate when you know where you stand. Johnson finished last season playing in all 82 games and tallying 13 points.
Three possible destinations for Johnson:
1. Montreal Canadiens
2. Anaheim Ducks
3. San Jose Sharks
Regardless of where Johnson winds up, he's been made well aware he's not needed in Pittsburgh anymore. All that is left to decide is which offer Rutherford decides to go with and how much salary will the Pens have to retain.
