Report: Montreal and Dallas getting close to a deal
Dallas Stars defenceman, Julius Honka made it known to management he would prefer playing on a different team. The Stars are doing their part to move his services as they are engaged in trade talks with the Montreal Canadiens.
The one for one player swap is becoming more common across the league and look for the Habs to offer names like Micheal McCarron or Charles Hudon.
The 23-year-old Honka, is currently a restricted free agent looking for a new deal and would prefer the deal came from somewhere other than Dallas. The 1st round pick from 2014, finished with 4 assists in 29 games and has tallied 13 points in 87 NHL games. However, teams feel with his age and skating abilities, Honka hasn't even come close to his potential.Pursuant to @MikeHeika report that Julius Honka has requested a trade from DAL, I'm told #Habs are among a couple of teams interested. Belief is that they'd be willing to make a player-for-player swap rather than give up a pick. Believe another East team in the mix.— Eric Engels (@EricEngels) September 14, 2019
