Rumor: Montreal close to signing free agent
Free agent forward, Jason Pominville has only known two teams his entire career. The Minnesota Wild and more recently and also where he began his career, playing for the Sabres in Buffalo. The soon to be 37-year-old veteran may have to add a third team to his career listing if he wants to play next season.
Pominville finished the year with 16 goals and 31 points in 73 games in Buffalo, a city where he is beloved, however, with the Sabres turning their attention on other pieces up front, Pominville's agent has turned his attention else where.
According to Eric Engles of Sportsnet, he's mentioned via Twitter the Montreal Canadiens are considering signing Pominville. The Habs could use Pominville to round out their top-9, and is certainly someone the team is familiar with.
Pominville has also received calls from the Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders, although it does appear a deal with Montreal is closing in.
Good move for the Habs to add a veteran like Pominville?
