NHLTR: Edmonton will be a 'major suitor' for New Jersey's Taylor Hall
Time heals all. It also helps when there is a new general manager running the show. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, if the New Jersey Devils are moving on from Taylor Hall, expect the Edmonton Oilers to be the front runner.
Hall, as you may know, was dealt to the Devils from the Oilers in the infamous trade which saw RHD Adam Larsson get shipped the other way. The soon to be 28-year-old Hall will be an unrestricted free agent at seasons end, and believe is, if the Devils are not contending, Hall will not be interested in signing an extension.
The Devils are currently winless after a very busy offseason which saw the club bring in Wayne Simmonds, PK Subban and drafting Jack Hughes first overall. On Tuesday, the team announced the clubs Assistant GM, Tom Fitzgerald will be joining the bench and help coaching the team. It's believed the management wants to get a pulse on who is the problem and who should be a part of the solution. A bold move for the club and weird enough, one that head coach, John Hynes recommended.
Will the Oilers wait for Hall on July 1st of 2020, or will they make a move at the deadline? Everything will ride on the wins and losses in New Jersey, and currently it's been all losses. Something Taylor Hall wants no part of.
