San Jose Sharks sign Patrick Marleau to a one-year deal
Joe Thornton finally got his wish and is reunited with his best buddy. The San Jose Sharks have signed Patrick Marleau to a one year deal for the league minimum, $700,000.
Marleau spent the vast majority of his career in San Jose before a brief stop in Toronto, along with an even shorter but productive stay in Carolina. The move brings back the Sharks franchise leader in several offensive categories. Marleau's resume is quite impressive including 551 goals, 615 assists in 1657 games played. In NHL history he currently ranks 5th all time in games played, 28th in career goals and 53rd in points. First ballot hall-of-fame type of production.
Shifting to present day, the Sharks will look for Marleau to provide some secondary scoring and be solid in his own end. As for his best buddy Joe, he was busy dropping hints this morning in Nashville:

Joe Thornton on Patrick Marleau: “He should be playing somewhere. I expect he’ll be somewhere soon. He skates with us in the summer and he’s still the best skater on the ice.” #SJSharks— Kevin Kurz (@KKurzNHL) October 8, 2019
