VIDEO: Jonathan Drouin Tears Up After Receiving Standing ovation from Bell Centre
The Canadiens just capped off a 6-3 victory over the defending Stanley Cup champions. In a post-game interview, Jonathan Drouin received some high praise from the Canadiens faithful.
During an interview with TVA sports, Drouin was asked about his play and his rediscovered confidence on the ice, when hundreds of fans gave Drouin a standing ovation applauding his efforts so far this season.
The chants were quite moving for Drouin, who appears to be tearing up while he embraces the cheers from the Canadiens fans.
Drouin has been the subject of a lot of criticism over the past two years, with his performance not quite meeting the expectations of the fans and management. The scrutiny of Drouin's play and effort on the ice came to a head when Drouin was left in the press box during the Canadiens' final preseason game, a time where most of the NHL roster was set.
Since then, Drouin has looked like a whole new player on the ice. He's been more physical, has improved defensively, pulls off clever and tricky moves with the puck, and now sits at six points in five games. The 24-year old is quickly regaining the confidence of his teammates, coaching staff, and the Canadiens fan-base.
It's very nice to see a player like Drouin playing with the same confidence as the kid who scored 108 points in 46 games with the Halifax Mooseheads back in 2013-14.
