Report surfaces on Sportsnet that Bill Peters has been fired
According to Jeff Marek of Sportsnet, the Calgary Flames have fired Bill Peters as the team's head coach after investigating the allegations made by former player Akim Aliu.
Aliu came forward Monday night with information regarding Peters remarks about his choice of music and his use of discriminatory language.
The two were together in Rockford of the AHL, for five games in 2008-2009 season and 48 games in 2009-10. Aliu also appeared in 13 games for the ECHL's Toledo Walleye in 09-10'.
In the series of tweets from Aliu on Monday, Aliu didn't mention Peters by name, but did refer to a 'protege' of Mike Babcock, currently in Calgary. Peters served as Babcock's assistant on Detroit for three years.
More to come as it comes as TSN is rebutting the reports.
