Leafs GM, Kyle Dubas finds it 'mind-boggling' how much Leafs Nation hates Cody Ceci
Toronto Maple Leafs general manager, Kyle Dubas spoke with the media today after the Maple Leafs lost on Long Island. Dubas went on to mention they are not in the market for a veteran back-up goalie but what else came out of his mouth surprised some people.
There has been a ton of chatter surrounding the Maple Leafs that the team will consider moving Ceci at the deadline, however, after this protection plan, it appears Dubas is finished with listening to everyone dump on Cody Ceci.
When's the last time a general manager protected a player for getting chirped?
Ceci played over 20 minutes in New York on Wednesday night and has been paired on the Leafs top-paring along with Morgan Rielly, since the team acquired him from the Ottawa Senators in the summer. Ceci's primary numbers do not jump out at you, as he only has 4 points in 20 games.Kyle Dubas says he finds it "mind boggling" that there's a "referendum" on Cody Ceci every time he makes a mistake. The #leafs GM defended Ceci by pointing to his relatively strong underlying numbers, particularly for someone with his heavy usage.— Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) November 14, 2019
