Report: Montreal to sign young Russian superstar
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Montreal Canadiens are the front-runners to sign 24-year old Russian superstar Konstantin Okulov.
Considered as one of the best young talent in the KHL, the Montreal Canadiens are very close to signing Konstantin Okulov. The 24-year old has never been drafted by a NHL team, but has demonstrated a lot of promise as he has 14 points in 23 games this season as a member of the CSKA Moscow.
During the 2018-19 season, he was classed as of one of the best players of the season (31 points in 48 regular season games.) During the Playoffs, he absolutely exploded offensively as he scored 9 goals and 14 points in 19 Playoff games.
Habs’ prospect Alexander Romanov is also Okulov’s teammate. Okulov could help Montreal’s Centreman problem as he can play both as a winger or a centreman.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have also demonstrated interest, but have fallen behind the Canadiens’.
If Montreal were to sign Okulov, do you think he’d help the Canadiens out right now?
