Rumor: Calgary Flames contact the Maple Leafs with trade offer for Tyson Barrie

As Matthew Tkachuk put it after the Flames latest loss to the Golden Knights, the Flames are 'disgusting' right now and something has to give for the team to get back on track. It appears a trade with one of their Canadian counterparts could do the trick, as the Maple Leafs and Flames are reportedly discussing a deal.

The Leafs recently made it known they have been taken calls on struggling defenseman, Tyson Barrie, and at $2.75 million, Barrie has been garnering a ton of interest, even though he is yet to score this season. Last season Barrie finished with 59 points, good for 7th overall by defensemen.

The Leafs have interest in Flames forward, Sam Bennett. The 23-year-old would supply the Maple Leafs with some much needed grit and versatility up front, and Bennett's connection to Kingston, and Maple Leafs ambassador, Doug Gilmour, is believed to be a big factor here. Defenseman, Rasmus Andersson is also on the Maple Leafs wish list, however, Calgary would prefer to include RHD, Michael Stone.

Both teams are in need of a much needed spark and are open to making the right deal to turn things around before they get out of hand. American Thanksgiving is always a bench mark date, as teams begin to have a sense of their identity by the end of this month. Both the Flames and Maple Leafs have yet to put their finger on exactly what their teams are this season.

Barrie for Bennett, who blinks first?
