BREAKING: Canadiens and Sabres Finalize Significant Trade
There has been a significant trade for a defenseman that will greatly impact this injury plagued team.
Since Brendan Gallagher was placed on IR and is out of the lineup indefinitely, GM Marc Bergevin was pressed to make a move.
The Montreal Canadiens have acquired defenseman Marco Scandella from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 4th round pick. Although the loss of Gallagher may still have a significant impact on the team's season trajectory, adding the big stay at home defenseman will serve to be an asset to their back end.
Scandella has 3 goals and 6 assists in 31 games this season. His scoring production has never been the highlight of his skillset as he is a reserved player who pairs well with risk taking offensive defenseman. This is also a low risk deal for the Canadiens as Scandella's $4 million contract will expire on July 1st, 2020.
