Breaking: Former Hawks netminder Ed Belfour arrested
Former Chicago Blackhawks netminder Ed Belfour has been arrested on criminal mischief and public intoxication in Bowling Green, Kentucky, according to jail documents.
Belfour, now 54, was booked into the Warren Country Regional Jail early Tuesday. He was arrested on charges of 3rd degree criminal mischief and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
The former NHLer was arrested after an incident at the Kentucky Grand Hotel in downtown Bowling Green, according to WNKY. Police were called after it was reported of a drunk and disorderly person, the Bowling Green Daily News reports.
Belfour allegedly tried to fight a manager at the hotel bar, struck a glass window and pulled down a curtain rod off the wall. As they arrived on scene, authorities found Belfour lying on the ground clutching said curtain wall. Officers stated that his speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot and he had difficulties staying on his feet.
